If you want to do everything possible to prevent or reverse hair loss, you have to pay attention to many factors. Smoking and drinking can play a role. You also need to consider how you style your hair and what you use in it. To stay healthy, there are various vitamins and minerals that you need to eat every day. Nutrition plays a large role. So let’s look at how you can promote healthy hair growth by eating the right foods and supplements and staying away from the wrong ones.
The food that you eat, specifically food that is bad for you, is also bad for your hair in most cases. Your hair can actually be negatively affected by certain foods that are considered to be unhealthy for your body. This would include any food with excessive amounts of fat or sugar. Foods that tend to raise the blood sugar level, which include sweets and carbohydrates such as white flour, pasta and rice can contribute to hair loss. It’s best to eat such carbs in moderation and to look for healthier whole grain substitutes to ones made from processed white flour. Stay away from deep-fried products if possible. You should also avoid fast food joints anytime you can.
Anyone that wants to be healthy needs to have Omega-3 fatty acids or healthy fats in their daily diet – it can also help your hair grow. If you like to eat fish, one of the best ones is salmon. This fish has iron, Omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin B12 built right in. Eating food that is beneficial for your hair would also include eating oysters every day which have nutrients and antioxidants galore. Flaxseed oil is another source of healthy fats for people that don’t like fish. If you want a food that is high in protein and healthy fats, nuts are the perfect alternative food. Walnuts, brazil nuts and almonds are highly nutritious, and are good sources of zinc, which is very good for your hair.
If you are looking for something that can help your hair, and also make you healthy, antioxidants might be the key. Most essential vitamins like Vitamin E, C and A have antioxidants in them. These are vitamins everyone has heard of, but you may not be getting enough of one or more of these from your diet. Vitamin E is important because it fights harmful free radicals that not only cause illness, but can also contribute to hair loss. Taking a daily dose of Vitamin E promotes better circulation in your body which is good for your scalp and heart. You should also take regular doses of Vitamin C to promote hair growth and prevent colds. It is common knowledge that your body requires proper nutrition. Your hair is very similar, requiring nutrients and a diet that can provide what you need. If your body is deficient in some area, this could cause hair loss. However, you should know that a healthier diet may not cause all hair to grow back. Stopping hair loss may not be the result of changing your diet. Most hair loss today is a genetic problem. However, this does not mean that you should not eat healthier everyday.
